RNSW Spring Regatta

10/15/2016

A great day was presented for the first SIRC regatta of the season and the rowers took the opportunity to row on a buoyed course in good conditions with both hands.
We have begun competing more and more in sweep oar events over the past couple of years. This has given a platform for rowers of varying levels and ages to compete together which has proven beneficial for everyone involved. This has continued to see success and this was once again displayed in this regatta.

The men’s D grade eight of Eli, Angus, Joel, Will, Chris, Airtarn, Henry, Johnathon and Miles pushed out early and took out a convincing win. Angus, Joel, Will, Henry and Eli later in the day combined to race the C four and had a tight battle with St George, but in the end they prevailed with the win.
The women’s D grade eight of Aimee, Maral, Genevieve, Tallara, Jacqui, Bianca, Victoria, Alyssa and Eli race did not go so smoothly with crews crashing within the first 100 metres. The officials made the decision to restart the race. The girls backed down to the start and were ready for another go. They started well and before long they took the lead and stayed in front the entire race to take the win

Tallara, Jacqui, Maral, Bianca and Eli raced in the D four against a Leichardt crew who came from the eight they had previously raced. The girls were too strong and lead from start to finish. We were able to boat two pairs in Tallara and Jacqui along with Victoria and Maral. The experience of Tallara and Jacqui shone through and they lead from start to finish with Victoria and Maral taking out third.

In the sculling events, Paul took out the C single, Sienna and Pal took out the D double and Erik won the B single.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to making the day run smoothly.
